I have tested these programs on the Palm OS Emulator
which goes up to Palm OS 4, and have ran it on Palm OS 5.2 on a Zire 21. Please note - Some bugs were reported by Andre and Charles and I am glad to say that I have ironed these out (updated apps posted on site 30-08-2004).
Some of these programs which set reminders in the date book probably will not work on the T5 or the Treo 650 - I have stated this in the description for each app where necessary.

Body Mass index A tutorial for PDA Toolbox showed how to develop an App for
calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI). It took your height in inches
and your weight is pounds and used these to calculate the BMI. I find
changing my height to inches and my weight to pounds quite a difficult
mental calculation so I amended the tutorial's program to take input in
Feet and Inches and Stones and Pounds or in Km and Cm. So my first app
was completed!

VAT My hardest problem in creating my next app was in picking something
that hadn't been done before (or which I hadn't seen before). So after
much head-scratching I came up with an App to calculate the UK VAT on an
item and also show the price plus VAT. It also gives you the option of
seeing how much VAT is charged on an item. For people who have to
calculate VAT a lot it saves them banging away on a calculator.

Cook's Helper is a colour Palm application which give conversion tables used in cooking - e.g. Metric to Imperial, Imperial to Metric, Oven Temperatures and Cups to Volume. It also has a section which gives explanations of commonly used cooking terms, a list of UK/USA translations e.g aubergine = eggplant, and a list of the various types of rice and what they are best used for.

Smoking is a simple program which lets you count how many cigarettes you smoke each day. I am trying to quit by reducing my intake and wanted to know how many I smoked - so I came up with this. Hopefully it will help you focus more on how many you smoke each day and help you in your attempts to quit!

Cindy's Cravings Counter will help you monitor and record your cravings.
